September 10, 2024 By The Town of Hingham
The Town of Hingham’s Annual Candlelight Vigil will be held at the POW/MIA Memorial located on Hingham Harbor at Whitney Wharf beginning at 7:00pm, and lasting approximately 60 minutes. This simple stand-out draws awareness and shows solidarity for the cause.
By Presidential Proclamation, National POW/MIA Recognition Day is to be observed annually on the third Friday in September. This National Day of Recognition honors our missing service members and their families, and highlights the government’s commitment to account for them.
America’s POW/MIAs should be honored and recognized, rather than memorialized, with the focus on continuing commitment to account as fully as possible for those still missing.
All military, veterans, and Gold Star families are strongly encouraged to attend. The general public is always welcome, and invited to participate.
Volunteers will be on-hand to distribute (glow-sticks) while they last, or you can bring your own luminary device.
Parking in the main lot nearest the Victory Statue (Iron Horse) is highly recommended.
