Hingham's Covid-19 Closures and Cancellations (1)

In light of COVID-19 the following local closures or event postponements have occurred.

We will continue to update this list as we receive information, please feel free to email info@hinghamanchor.com with any updates.

New update from the Hingham Downtown Association: The following stores will be closed until further notice:

Hingham Public Schools -  All schools are cancelled until April 7.

Hingham Town Facilities - All Hingham Town Facilities including Town Hall Offices, DPW offices, Senior Center, Hingham Public Library, South Shore Country Club, Hingham Recreation will be closed through Sunday, March 22.

NOTE, HINGHAM TRANSFER STATION will be OPEN normal business hours (however, the SWAP shop will be closed).

Hingham Public Library-  The Library will be closed on Saturday, March 14, 2020 through at least Sunday, March 22, 2020. No library materials will be due during this time, and all holds have been extended.

Hingham Farmers Market- Cancelled until further notice.

Hingham Recreation - All programs are cancelled Friday, March 13th, Saturday, March 14th, Sunday, March 15th and Monday, March 16th.

South Shore Baptist Church- SSBC has suspended all worship services, meetings, and activities at South Shore Baptist Church until March 30th.

First Baptist Church-  Depending on unfolding circumstances, the next worship service will be Sunday, March 29th.  Further, between now and then all small groups and meetings will be suspended.  Please, NO Office visits during this time.  The best modes of communication are through phone, texts and emails.

Hingham Middle School Drama - The spring production of "The Secret Garden" has been postponed.

South Shore Sports Center - All sports center and SELECT activities are cancelled until further notice.

South Elementary Coffee with the Principal- South Elementary has decided to cancel the Coffee with the Principal scheduled for tomorrow. If you still have a registration packet to drop off, you're welcome to drop off at South at the Main Entrance.  Or you can scan and send to pgraham@hinghamschools.org.

Derby Academy- will begin its March break a day early. Campus will close after normal business hours on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 4PM. Over the last several days, our faculty and students have been instructed in distance learning in the event of a prolonged closure.

Derby has created a webpage (https://www.derbyacademy.org/who-we-are/covid-19-updates)on Derby’s website that offers additional resources for families, as well as prior communications and helpful information from the CDC and WHO.

Hingham Historical Society- Closed though Saturday, March 28, 2020. HHS is continuously monitoring all available information and will update accordingly. HHS staff will monitor email accounts and voicemail. At this time, the following programs and events have been postponed:

Saturday, March 14th - Waves of Change Lecture: The Irish Riviera
Saturday, April 18th - Distinguished Speaker Series with Ambassador Nicholas BurnsPublic Tours of the Benjamin Lincoln House scheduled to start Sunday, March 15th

St. Johns Episcopal Church –  Shut down all in-person parish activities and Sunday worship for the next two weeks (3/12 -3/26). They will communicate online opportunities for worship, formation, and mutual support in the days ahead to parishoners. The office will remain open during this time, and they will reevaluate how to proceed following this two-week period.

St. John’s will be offering a prayer service at 10 a.m. on Sunday via Facebook Live on our parish FB page. https://m.facebook.com/StJohnsHingham/❤️

Mr. Joy Presentation – Was previously scheduled for Thursday, March 12 and has been indefinitely postponed.  Hingham Public Schools will provide information once more information is available.

Hingham Pride Project Event – Event that was previously scheduled for Saturday, March 28th has been postponed and rescheduled for Saturday, May 9th.  Ticket holders can ask for a refund via Eventbrite if they cannot make the new date. You can email HinghamPrideProjectInc@gmail.com with any questions.

Hingham Sports Partnership Comedy Night – The Hingham Sports Partnership Comedy Night Fundraiser on March 22nd has been postponed.  Everyone who has already purchased tickets will be refunded.  If you have any questions about this, please email hsp@hinghamsports.com.

HMPA Music on the Boardwalk – Due to community health concerns, the HMPA has decided to cancel our “Music on the Boardwalk” event scheduled for March 22nd at Paragon Boardwalk. Unfortunately, this event will not be rescheduled for this spring.

PRS Nona’s Night – The Plymouth River School Nona’s fundraising event on March 16th has been cancelled. An alternate date will be shared once available.

Congregation Sha'aray Shalom -All Religious School Programs and all Congregational Events between Saturday afternoon, March 14th and Friday afternoon, March 27th are cancelled. We will review the dates as more data becomes available and will extend the closure as necessary.

SHABBAT WORSHIP SCHEDULE:
Services will be conducted in the following way:
Friday, March 13 - Shabbat Evening Services at 7:30 pm
- No Communal lighting of Candles, Kiddush or Motzi
- No Oneg Shabbat - we will have a "Go-Neg" with some pre-packed sweets for attendees to take home as a sweet Shabbat treat
- Social Distancing will be encouraged

Saturday, March 14 - Shabbat Morning Services at 10:30 am - Bat Mitzvah of Ruth Dannison
- No Hakafah
- Social Distancing will be encouraged
- No Communal Kiddush or Motzi - The Dannison family will join us on the bimah for the blessings

Old Ship Parish and Parish House - There will be no gathered worship at the Old Ship Parish on March 15th, 22nd or 29th. All other planned Old Ship group gatherings are cancelled, as well. This includes Coffeehouse Off the Square, Meditation, OWL, Women’s Breakfast, Bodhisattva and all classes.

Through YouTube anyone with internet access will be able to view a simple service on-line led by Ken, with music from Christopher and participation from one or two other Old Shippers.

Hingham Education Foundation Spring Event - Based on the current circumstances the HEF spring event has been postponed. We are sorry for this inconvenience and hope to have a new date on the calendar soon. Anyone who has already purchased tickets will be refunded. If you have any questions about this, please email hinghameducation@gmail.com.

Town of Hingham Veterans of Vietnam 50th Anniversary Event - The event scheduled for Saturday, March 28th has been cancelled.

House of Prayer Lutheran Church - The House of Prayer Lutheran Church located at  916 Main Street,  is cancelling worship services and bible study through March 26.
