Hingham Virtual Solar Open House Tour National Solar Tour

Wednesday, September 23, 2020

Have you wondered what is involved in having solar panels, heat pumps/mini-splits, or an electric vehicle?

On this year’s Hingham Solar Tour, you will be able to visit Hingham homes that have solar panel installations and other carbon-reducing technologies in operation. Your Hingham neighbors will showcase how they are reducing their carbon emissions and tell their stories: why they adopted the technology, how it works for them, and any issues they suggest fellow Hinghamites consider if you too are interested in doing your part to reduce climate changing carbon emissions.

The local Hingham Solar Tour is part of the National Solar Tour, taking place on the web September 27 thru October 4. Programs will cover topics such as Electric Vehicles, Home Solar, Business Solar, Solar Schools, and Policy/Community Issues. Check out the schedule!

To view any of the offerings, RSVP.

The 2020 Hingham Solar Tour is hosted by Hingham Net Zero, Hingham residents concerned about climate change and its impact on our seaside community and working to help our town reduce our carbon footprint. The virtual open houses will be available for viewing at NationalSolarTour.org from 9/28 through the month of October.

Also on available to view are several “virtual test drives” of Electric Vehicles by Hingham owners. Additional open house tours can be visited through our neighboring local tours in Cohasset, Kingston, Plymouth and the South Shore Green Energy Tour at NationalSolarTour.org.

If you want to learn more about these carbon reducing approaches, check out the Hingham Net Zero website and the “What You Can Do” menu to view presentations on such technologies as solar panels, air-source heat pumps, and electric vehicles at https://www.hinghamnetzero.org/.

If you have questions, let us know that you are interested in connecting with a Climate Coach, a fellow Hingham resident with experience in using these carbon reducing approaches. To contact a Climate Coach, email hinghamnetzero@gmail.com.
