May 5, 2021

Thérèse “Pat” (Cushing) Conlon, of Hingham, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. She was 94.

Born in Boston on March 21, 1927, and raised in Dorchester, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Rose (Brady) Cushing. She attended local schools and graduated from high school in 1944. Following high school, she attended the Carney Hospital School of Nursing as a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps and had a lifelong career – ultimately becoming a private duty nurse. She loved her vocation and the relationships she built with patients and their families throughout the years.

Pat was the beloved wife of the late Paul Anthony Conlon, who died in 1965. The two married on June 30, 1951 and together they shared 14 years of loving marriage. She was the devoted mother of Paul A. Conlon, Jr. (Julie) of Maine, Susan P. Shaughnessy (James) of Florida, Gerard J. Conlon (Frannie) of Maine, and the late Baby John. After the sudden death of her husband Paul, Pat raised her children in a wonderful Hingham neighborhood amongst neighbors that became lifelong friends. She was known for her fabulous parties and was a beloved friend to all who knew her. In her final years Pat lived in a family home in Hanover, cared for by her granddaughter Lindsay.

Pat was the loving grandmother of Captain Kim Shaughnessy-Granger, USN, (Chris) of Virginia, Greg Shaughnessy (Kim) of New York, Christen Shaughnessy (Brian) of Florida, Lindsay Conlon of Massachusetts and Patrick Conlon of Maine. She was the devoted great-grandmother of Rosemary, Aidan, and Keira. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Mary Dowe and John “Buddy” Cushing, Jr. Pat is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
