In the Dolphin Gallery
The Hingham Library is pleased to be welcoming Peggy Roth Major to the Dolphin
Gallery. Her photography exhibit, entitled We Live Here, opens on Saturday, Nov. 6 and
will be on display through Thursday, Dec. 2. The show is sponsored by the North River
Arts Society.
About We Live Here Peggy Roth Major says “This exhibit is a declaration of my love &
gratitude for this place we call home & its natural surroundings that have helped to keep
me grounded during these challenging times.
“It is a small chapter in my life’s visual autobiography but it is one that seems right to
share at this moment with my hope of bringing us all closer together through the
common thread of place.
“I am dedicating the show to my good friend & neighbor, Teddi Jacobs, who recently
passed away, leaving a huge void within our local community. We often would marvel
together how lucky we were to live in such a beautiful area by speaking in unison these
very words, “We Live Here”.
Now that she is gone, I hope all who witness this exhibit will in some way share our
bond of appreciation for this special place and perhaps help in its preservation for future
generations so they may carry on our mantra.”
Peggy Roth Major is a fine art photographer who has shown her work in many local and
national arts festivals, juried shows and solo exhibits and has received numerous
awards including Best of Show, Awards of Excellence and Blue Ribbons. She has a
B.S. in Art, Cum Laude from Springfield College and is currently a member of the North
River Arts Society as well as a gallery artist at the South Shore Art Association.
She shoots with digital SLR cameras primarily using natural light and also creates
sculptural works in clay, embracing both mediums as a means of sharing her inner
visions with others. She has lived in New England for all of her adult life, and finds
much of her daily inspiration in the land and sea around her.
