The Annual Marathon Sports Hingham Turkey Trot

November 6, 2021 By Laura Winters

The annual Marathon Sports Hingham Turkey Trot 5K will take place on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 25, 2021.  The beloved tradition (23 years strong!) aims to provide a fast, fun, and fulfilling Thanksgiving road race that continues to benefit the Cross-Country and Track and Field programs at Hingham High School.

Compete For a Cause: All Proceeds of the Turkey Trot Support HHS RUNS

This race is the primary fundraiser for all three seasons of HHS RUNS. The Hingham High School Cross Country and both the Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Programs are wildly successful with athletes competing in state and national championships each season. More importantly, is inclusive to athletes competing at all levels: no athlete is cut from any season of HHS RUNS—all are welcome!

In fact, 20% of the student body at Hingham High School participates in HHS RUNS, which is remarkable when you consider the number of sports teams that Hingham High School fields. With this welcoming philosophy driving the three-season program, HHS RUNS relies heavily on their fundraising efforts achieved through the Turkey Trot.

“Your contributions allow us to bring in additional coaches to support and train our athletes, which is why we can include anyone who would like to participate. During the pandemic, we were able to ensure safety at our meets by funding F.A.T. timing for the meets, which reduces the need for physical contact at the finish line. We continue to utilize this timing today” shares HHS RUNS parent Chrissy Roberts.
