The Trustees of Reservations (The Trustees) today announces its second annual South Shore Reindeer Quest—a self-guided scavenger hunt—available to guests at five Trustees’ properties along the South Shore starting January 17, 2021. Visitors are encouraged to grab hiking boots, snow shoes or cross-country skis and get the family outside to scour the trails for herds of handmade, wooden reindeer at World’s End, Whitney & Thayer Woods and Weir River Farm in Hingham, the Norris Reservation in Norwell, and Two-Mile Farm in Marshfield.
“The Trustees is committed to creating fun and adventurous ways for people to stay safe and get outside this winter,” said Trustees South Shore Portfolio Director Anne Smith-White. “Kids of all ages will love finding the reindeer while exploring the outdoors and taking in the natural beauty of some of The Trustees’ most special places.”
Reindeer are crafted by 140 Girl and Cub Scouts, representing 15 South Shore troops, and hidden along the trails. Each deer has a special personality, which visitors can discover by scanning a QR code with the camera on their phone. Guests who want to know what flavor of ice cream reindeer like best, or what their favorite reindeer game is can visit all five properties to find out. Along the way, guests are encouraged to snap a selfie with their favorite deer and post to social media using the hashtags #SSreindeerquest and #thetrustees to be entered to win a fun prize. Last year, over 3,000 people participated in the Quest.
The Trustees would like to thank their scouting friends from Hingham, Cohasset, Norwell, and Scituate for their help bringing safe, outdoor adventures to everyone on the South Shore.
Reindeer will visit the properties from January 16 to February 27, 2021. This event is free, although visitors to World’s End must pre-register for parking. For more information, contact Anne Smith, South Shore Portfolio Director, asmithwhite@thetrustees.org
