Hingham High School Principal Rick Swanson notified parents and guardians earlier today, Friday, that a safety concern stemming from a social media post that referenced ownership of a weapon by a student "was revealed to be not a credible threat."
After becoming aware of the post, HHS administrators immediately collaborated with the Hingham Police Department to determine its credibility.
"We were able to establish that [the post] was referring to a toy weapon," Swanson said in the email. "The school is addressing the situation with the student and will continue to provide education about the negative impact of social media posts like this one."
