Fourth graders Charlie Inglis and Avery Buckley Griffin of Hingham, students at the Sage School in Foxboro, achieved national recognition for their achievement in the Fall 2021 national Noetic Learning Math Contest (NLMC), a semiannual problem-solving contest for elementary and middle school students. The goal of the competition is to encourage students' interest in math, to develop their problem-solving skills, and to inspire them to excel in math. Students are given 45 minutes to complete 20 written questions designed to challenge them and develop their analytic skills. 23,270 students from 504 schools in 49 states competed in the competition.
Charlie Inglis received national honor roll with a score in the top 10% in the nation and Avery Buckley Griffin received national honorable mention with a score in the top 50% in the nation. Their 4th grade class also received the team achievement plaque that is awarded to the top 10% of team scores nationally.
