It might be a bit too early to call him “Mr. March,” but senior Wyatt Iaria sure has started the month, and the Harbormen’s playoff run, on the right foot.
Iaria notched his first two goals of the season in Hingham’s 4-0 win over St. John’s Shewsbury yesterday in their opening round game of the D1 State Tournament. He opened the scoring in the first when he tipped a Chase McKenna shot into the back of the net. Senior Ryan Burns added another one before the end of the first to make it 2-0. The scored stayed that way through the second and into the third when Iaria netted his second of the game to increase the Harbormen’s lead to 3. Junior Billy Jacobus added an empty netter with under a minute to play.
“It feels good,” Iaria said after the game. “The important thing is we got the dub. The boys were buzzing. It feels good to get those two, my first two goals of the season. There was good energy today, lots and lots of fans, it felt good. The boys knew we had to get it done and we executed good. We came out strong. We had the energy on the bench. I think overall we played a good game.”
Next up for Hingham is 19th ranked Franklin on Tuesday at 6pm in Canton.
