James Kenneth Twombly Sr.

May 10, 2022

James K. Twombly Sr., of Hingham, MA passed away on May 7th after a long and hard fought battle with addiction at the age of 35.  Jimmy was born and raised in Hingham and was a graduate of the class of 2005. After high school, he went on to join the U.S Army and was assigned to the First Calvary. Following his service, Jimmy became a proud and talented tradesman with Local 7 Iron Workers, which he did up until the time of his passing. He is survived by his loving parents Ron Sr. and Jane Twombly of Plymouth, his brothers Ronny Jr. Twombly of Houston, Texas, Gary, his wife Megan, and his goddaughter Dylan Twombly of Hanover, and his long time partner Tanya Maguire of Stoughton.  Jimmy leaves behind three pieces of his heart, his boys; James Jr. and Nolan Twombly, and James "JMac" McCarthy.  Jimmy is survived by his Grammy Nancy and the late George Walling of Weymouth. He was predeceased by his Grandparents Ken Sr. and Arline Twombly of Hingham.  Jimmy leaves behind many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

As a kid, if Jimmy wasn't playing sports, on the football field, or mastering riding a two wheeler at the age of two, you could find him cliff jumping the cove with his brothers or enjoying a chicken and cheese sub from Crow Point. His enthusiasm for life followed him into adulthood, and his love for his family was absolute. Jimmy had an infectious smile, laugh, and personality and was loved by everyone who was lucky enough to know him.  Jimmy fought hard for his life and the life he knew he deserved, and we fought as hard as we knew how to help him. His memory will never be forgotten, and our broken hearts will forever feel the immeasurable loss of his absence.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday May 12th from 4-7 p.m at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel at 21 Pond St in Hingham. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday May 13th at 10:00 a.m at St. John's located at 172 Main Street in Hingham.  Interment to follow at Hingham Cemetary.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks to consider making a donation to The Family Restored (thefamilyrestored.org) in Jimmy's name to help other families fight this devastating disease.
