Hingham resident brings “Cisco experience” to Paragon Boardwalk; outdoor beer garden opening soon

Charles Veysey

Hingham resident Charles Veysey -- dubbed "The Vibe Guy" by his current employer, Cisco Brewers -- is the operating partner of the Paragon Boardwalk at Nantasket Beach, which is gearing up for a busy season that will include an outdoor beer garden.

This popular venue -- located at 183-197 Nantasket Ave. with breathtaking views of the ocean -- is frequented by residents of Hingham, Hull, and surrounding towns.

The Beer Garden, arcade, and food offerings will open for Memorial Day weekend, beginning Thursday, May 26. Saturday and Sunday will include bar, ice cream, a raw bar, and traditional beach food -- including pizza and tacos. In partnership with Mad Love Music Festival, opening weekend will also include Mad Love vibes, games, live music and specialty merchandise.

Paragon is generously donating 10% of proceeds from the opening weekend to Mad Love -- an outdoor festival held at South Shore Conservatory that provides the Dave Jodka Scholarship for Future Rockers that enables students from all backgrounds to experience the love of music that Dave inspired in his family and in his life.

Hingham residents Chris and Diana Reale -- who acquired the Paragon property in 2017-- had approached Nantucket -based Cisco Brewers about bringing the company's popular beer garden experience to the Paragon Boardwalk, but the timing was too tight for this summer.

Cisco and the Reales tapped Veysey for the 2022 season, and he couldn’t be more excited. Charles and his wife, Stacey, moved to Hingham 10 years ago and have three children.

Chris is "fired up" about this new venture. "This place needs a fresh jolt of energy coming out of COVID, and Charles brings a tremendous amount of experience from working with Cisco. He has young children and shares our vision of building a place that's fun and inviting for everyone," he the Hingham Anchor. "Charles understands the opportunities and challenges here, and we're really excited about this opportunity. Keeping the Boardwalk family -friendly and accessible remains a big priority for us all, and Charles will do a good job."
Veysey has been working for Cisco for the past four years, acting as liaison between the company and the brewery's off-Island beer garden locations.

"I was given the unofficial fun title of 'The Vibe Guy,' because I was charged with ensuring that the brand and culture -- the look, feel, drinks, and overall vibe -- are well-represented at our different locations," Veysey told the Hingham Anchor. These include New Bedford; Portsmouth, New Hampshire; the Seaport in Boston; West Palm Beach, Florida; and The Village in Stamford, Connecticut.

According to Cisco tradition, the family- and dog-friendly Paragon Boardwalk outdoor beer garden will feature good food, and Cisco beers and specialty cocktails.

"This is all about bringing the Cisco vibe and experience to Nantasket and to the Paragon Boardwalk. The Cisco experience is like being on vacation," Veysey said. "This is the perfect location."

The current indoor Beer Hall -- which has a bar -- will feature live music. Other offerings include the arcade, cornhole, outdoor Jenga, and more. There are also plans to get the mini-golf course up and running.

The Cisco Brewers website explains that some years back, a writer visited Nantucket and called Cisco “the happiest place on earth. And we couldn’t have agreed more."

Since 1995, Cisco has bottled up that “happiest place on earth” energy into all of its products and into the atmosphere of the company's beer gardens.

Positivity as part of his job description is nothing new to Veysey. He was the ‘Chief Business Optimist' at the Life is Good Kids Foundation -- which supports childcare professionals and organizations in creating life-changing relationships and optimal environments "where vulnerable kids can heal, learn, and grow." The goal was to "spread the power of optimism," he explained.

Veysey couldn't be happier with this new opportunity. "It's amazing to be on the ocean, with spectacular views and the history and nostalgia of what this site once was as Paragon Park," he said. "It will be exciting hosting the community at this location, and I'm looking forward to partnering with local organizations."
