Hingham Public Schools is pleased to announce that Joann Bellis has been selected to fill the position of Fine Arts Director. Ms. Bellis has been with the Hingham Public Schools for over twelve years, most recently holding the position of K-5 Music Curriculum Coordinator.
Prior to her appointment as K-5 Music Curriculum Coordinator, Ms. Bellis served as the Grade 5-6 Band Director with Hingham Public Schools. Prior to her musical career, Ms. Bellis worked at the Discovery Center with the Museum of Science in Boston working with children and infants.
Ms. Bellis holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Boston University, a Master of Music Education Degree from Gordon College, and is set to graduate with a Master of Business Administration Degree from Boston University in September of 2022. Ms. Bellis also holds a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Licensure in Music.
This position was identified as a budget priority in November of 2021 at the School Committee’s planning meeting, and was first proposed to the School Committee on January 6th, 2022 in the FY 23 proposed budget. This position was approved for funding at Town Meeting and was posted shortly thereafter.
