This week’s Athlete of the Week presented by College Hype is Liam McBride. Liam is a two-year senior captain of the boys basketball team. Last week during the annual Winter Break Tournament in Westwood, Liam averaged 22 points per game and led his team to the tournament finals against a tough Needham team. He also earned a spot on the All-Tournament team.
“He’s a phenomenal player,” says head coach Bob Kniffen. “Our senior captain, three-year starter for us. He’s done some good things for us over the course of the season, but he’s the type of player that has the potential to make everyone around him better and that’s going to be the key to our success.”
Fellow senior captain Nick Dubios points to his leadership on and off the court.
“When we are down he picks us up,” he says. “When we are up he still picks us up, even if we are shooting bad. All around his been a good captain the last two years. It has been nice to have him on the team.”
