James Winquist, who was convicted of two counts of second-degree murder in the 2005 deaths of two homeless men in Bare Cove Park, recently requested a parole hearing, according to published reports.

Winquist and Eric Snow — who committed suicide before the 2012 trial —  were accused of murdering the men in a bunker inside the park and severing one of the victim’s hands. They were arrested in 2007. Both were said to have ties to a white supremacist group.

Winquist went before the state parole board on Thursday, with no timeframe for the decision as to whether or not he will be set free.
