David W. Faunce of Hingham and Nantucket, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. He was 85.
He was born to Mary and Arthur Faunce and raised on Nantucket. He graduated from Nantucket High School. After high school, David attended Suffolk University then went on to Boston University. When he was 25, he enlisted in the Army and served for 4 years. After serving, he worked as a tax attorney for a while until he earned a position at Ropes and Gray LLP. There he had a distinguished 25-year career.
In his spare time, David enjoyed being outside, tending to his garden and watching for the visiting hummingbirds that he very much looked forward to seeing. He was an avid sports fan and was a true fan of the Red Sox. He was lucky enough to be at Fenway when Ted Williams hit his last home run.
David took a great interest in his family and friends. He had an ability to make everyone feel special, remembering the small details most would forget. David was an intelligent, kind soul that gave of what he had. He was a wonderful husband, generous neighbor and friend to all who knew him.
Beloved husband of 45 years to Joan Faunce (Corcoran) of Hingham and Nantucket. Also survived by his cousins: Kathleen Souza, Thomas McLaughlin, Robert Sylvia, Ann Tompkins and Eileen Duke and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents, Mary and Arthur Faunce, his brother, Chester Faunce and nephew, Mitchell Faunce.
