A period of snow will move through the South Shore late Monday into Tuesday, impacting travel to school and work.
In an average winter this system wouldn’t garner much attention–a few inches of snow with little wind and no threat of coastal flooding.
But with so little snow this season, it’s worth talking about. To date, Hingham’s biggest “storm” this year brought 2.2″ of snow to town.
With this system the snow will overspread the area late Monday, well after dark. It will then continue overnight into Tuesday morning.
During this time 2-4″ of snow is expected on the South Shore, including Hingham and Cohasset, as well as Boston.
Despite not being a lot of snow, the timing may create issues.
Be alert for school delays or cancellations, and a longer than usual commute. If you can, it will be a good day to work from home.
The precipitation will become lighter during the afternoon, and as that happens, we’ll start to see the snow mix with or change to rain.
As such, there will be little additional accumulation after lunchtime locally.
Through the interior, say outside of 128 and certainly 495, the storm will likely be all snow, so totals will be a bit higher.
The storm will be gone by Wednesday.
