The Hingham Public Library has kicked off ticket sales for its annual fundraiser, Beyond the Books, at the library on April 28 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The event will be a celebration of the library and community. Attendees will spend an evening exploring the robust offerings of the library, while listening to music performed by local musicians, enjoying appetizers and cocktails and participating in a live auction that promises a variety of unique experiences and spirited bidding.
Throughout the evening, library staff members will guide attendees through demonstrations of what can be borrowed and experienced beyond the books, which could be anything ranging from a tent, drawing tablet, Chromebook, or children’s educational toys, to chess lessons, yoga classes, author talks, and concerts. The demonstrations will showcase how there are so many programs and items that complement the vast collection of books that educate, inspire and enthrall.
“Beyond the Books is a great opportunity for people in the community to both celebrate and get further acquainted with all the library offers to everyone,” said Alyson Molloy Hussey, development chair, Hingham Library Board of Trustees. “Our library is a vital center of learning, exploration, enrichment and gathering, where interests such as history, art, music, technology, travel, myriad hobbies, and much more can be cultivated and enhanced. The programs and collections that are available free of charge to each town resident depend on the generosity of individuals and funding provided from wonderful events like Beyond the Books.”
Tickets for Beyond the Books are $130.00. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. For more information, tickets and sponsorships please visit the Hingham Public Library website http://www.hinghamlibrary.org/http://www.hinghamlibrary.org/or contact the library at 781-741-1405.
