Thomas Phillips Hall, 91, of Hingham, MA passed on April 5, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Camilla Tyson Hall; daughters Nancy Hall of Orford, NH and Virginia Murray (Sean) of Norwell, MA; son James Hall (Casey) of Hull, MA. He was pre-deceased by his sister Judith Chase (Allan – deceased) of Norwell, MA. He is also survived by his sister Dianne Polson (Alex – deceased) of Seattle, WA; brother Peter Dinzey Hall (Lorraine – deceased) of Rockport, ME; granddaughters Charlotte and Shannon Murray of Norwell, MA.
Son of the late James Phillips Hall and Louisa Victoria Sylvester, he was born in Boston, MA in 1931, and grew up in Norwell, MA. He graduated from Milton Academy and Cornell University. He served for 2 years (1954-1956) in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska as platoon leader and 1st Lieutenant in the 78th Tank Company.
He worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for 3 years. While working at United Shoe Machinery Corporation, Tom met Camilla. They were married in 1962 and settled in Hingham, MA where they raised their family. He worked at John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company for twenty-three years as a Systems Analyst. He was most proud of serving the town of Hingham as Town Clerk for 9 years (1988-1997) and was also a member of the Hingham Contributory Retirement Board for eighteen years.
Other community activities included Secretary of Old Colony Sportsmen’s Association in Pembroke, MA; President of Cohasset Golf Club; Chairman of The Meadows Condo Association in Hingham, MA; President of Lakeside Condo Association in Stuart, FL. Tom was passionate about family, playing bridge, birding, and genealogy. Interests included tennis, golf, gardening, music, and bicycling around the neighborhood.
A memorial service will be held at The Episcopal Parish of St. John the Evangelist in Hingham, MA on Friday, April 28th at 1:00 pm. The burial will be private.
