It’s not every day that someone can unite three rival sports communities for a shared cause, but Becky Nutley achieved exactly that. Over the past few years, Becky, the wife of former Hingham High head football coach Mark Nutley, dedicated herself to raising funds and awareness for Multiple Myeloma through Becky’s Brigade. Her efforts extended to their hometown of Marshfield, the neighboring town of Hingham, and Quincy, where both Becky and Mark worked in the public school system.
Sadly, Becky lost her 9 year battle with this disease on May 11, 2023. She was just 47 years old.
The whole Nutley family was honored two years ago during a Hingham football game when the team and community raised money for Becky’s Brigade. Last year, Becky didn’t make it to the game, but Mark and their two sons Adam and Sean were there representing her. Mark spent 5 years with Hingham High football, four of them as head coach.
Hingham High’s Athletic Director Jim Quatromoni shared his thoughts on Becky’s passing.
“During this sad time, I am grateful to our student athletes of our football grogram and their families as they provided the Nutleys with a tremendous amount of support over the years. I know it has meant so much to the family. We all now stand together in sorrow ready to support Mark, Adam, and Sean in anyway that we can. Rest In Peace Becky Nutley.”
People can pay their respects from 4pm – 8pm on Tuesday, May 16 at the Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester St. South Boston. The funeral mass will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, May 17 at St. Christine Catholic Church, 1295 Main St. Marshfield.
