The Hingham High School Class of 2023 is looking forward not only to their graduation ceremony June 3 following four years of hard work and good times together, but also to the Senior Night party planned for that evening, from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
This all-night gala — which has been a tradition for more than 25 years — provides an alcohol-free, fun-filled, safe place for the graduates to spend one last time together as a group.
“We have so much in store for the Class of 2023 as we carry on this time-honored tradition,” Kara Larson — who is co-chairing Senior Night with Mia Rochte and Heather Carroll — told the Hingham Anchor. “We appreciate the changes that were put in place last year to streamline the event.”
Students can expect an evening full of excitement and surprises, with new activities opening in stages throughout the event to build the suspense. Old favorites such as Casino Night and a DJ Dance Party will continue, along with added attractions.
“We will use Siagel Productions entertainment company to help plan the party again this year in order to reduce the number of hours parents would otherwise need to spend to plan and set up for Senior Night and to amp up the fun for the students,” Larson said.
Among the many fun activities seniors can look forward to are fortune tellers, Glow Golf, ax (plastic!) throwing, carnival games, and other attractions that will remain a “secret” until they arrive at the event.
The party-goers will also take a trip down memory lane. “We would like to express a heartfelt thank you to HHS junior parents who are assembling thousands of photos of our seniors to display in the Memory Hallway, and also to the generous Hingham community for supporting Senior Night,” Larson said. “Parents can rest easy knowing we have a safe and fun night planned for our seniors. Thanks also to the Hingham Police and Fire Departments for supporting our efforts and helping us make this a safe night for students and to the many Hingham businesses that have made donations.”
All this would not be possible without the Senior Night co-chairs and Business Manager Jennifer Willner’s hard work and the many volunteers who help make this annual event a huge success and a treasured memory for the graduating class.
“This Senior Night Party is bittersweet for me as my youngest child (Cal Larson) is graduating,” Larson said. “I’m excited that we are again throwing this EPIC party for the seniors. COVID-19 affected three out of the 4 years for this class, so it’s only right that we send them off in style!”
