June 5, 2023 Submitted by Hingham Fourth of July Committee

The 2023 Hingham 4th of July Parade Committee is excited to announce the selection of Mr. Warren Pelissier as Grand Marshal for the 2023 parade! The committee had several very qualified nominees to choose from this year, each of whom have served the town in many ways over a period of several years. The theme for this year’s parade is Together for the 4th. It is clear Warren exemplifies this message.

Warren Pelissier has been a Hingham resident for over 30 years and has demonstrated enormous commitment to his community. Warren has consistently been a guiding force in addressing the needs of our town, including his involvement in the relocation of the Hingham Nursery School. Warren served on the Nursery School Board and helped coordinate fundraising and support of
the town to identify a site, purchase the land and relocate the Nursery School near the Hingham
Middle School.

Warren’s extraordinary dedication to our community also included his involvement with the Hingham Sports Partnership (HSP). He joined the Board shortly after the completion of the Nursery School relocation. Warren became President at a time the fields, track and tennis courts at the Hingham School all needed significant work. His voice and leadership were influential in helping to make the case for investment in the athletic infrastructure.

After working with HSP, Warren noticed that Special Needs children were excluded from participating in Hingham athletics. Within months the South Shore SNAP (Special Needs Athletic Partnership) was formed, and soon after the high school crew teams had special Needs student-athletes participating! Warren’s involvement extended to other areas of need, including the founding of the Friends of the South Shore Country Club and forming a committee, Housing for Adults with Needs, to support adults with special needs. Recently, Warren also helped create the Hingham Civic Association, which combines local nonprofit organizations to share information and become a stronger group, together.

Warren, his wife Robin and their four sons have lived on lower Main Street, along the parade route, for decades. He shared that “the parade was a major part of our lives and our boys. It brought our families together with friends and neighbors to simply enjoy the day. The parade has something for every generation in Hingham, from our little kids to their Grandparents we all loved the Fourth of July in Hingham.”

Warren has enthusiastically engaged in a variety of civic, educational and community endeavors, which has greatly enhanced Hingham and improved the quality of life for its citizens. One can clearly see Warren’s commitment to Hingham and its residents in his wide ranging involvement.
