David Frederick Oberhauser of Hingham, died July 6, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of 33 years to Louise (Geiger) Oberhauser of Hingham, and brother of the late Frances, Charles, Albert, Richard and Grace Marie Oberhauser. David is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
David was a very intelligent man. His secondary education began at Boston College High School, where he graduated in the class of 1957. Becoming a Double Eagle, he graduated from Boston College class of 1961. David had a strong desire to learn more and went on to further his education at Holy Cross College where he graduated as part of the class of 1962. He continued his education graduating from Clark University in 1964 and later from Worcester Polytechnic Institute class of 1990. David earned many Masters degrees. His work history included 30 years as a senior scientist for the Polaroid Corporation. After his retirement from Polaroid, he took a position as an expert inspector for the Environmental Protection Agency, where he continued to use his professional skills for the next 20 years. David loved sailing and held the position of Commodore at the Hull Yacht Club. He was an avid reader, enjoyed skiing, traveling and listening to jazz and folk music. He was also a talented photographer as well as a skilled carpenter. David had a great sense of humor and he was fun to be around. The foundation of his life was his faith, his family and his friends. He will be dearly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday July 13 from 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM.
Burial will be in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline.
