Late library hours for final exams prep; career development workshop
Guitar concert -- Sunday, June 9, 3 p.m. David Newsam will be the next featured performer in the library's Boston Classical Guitar Society Concerts Series. A graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, he studied with Jim Kelly, Larry Baione, and William Leavitt. Newsam currently works as an assistant professor in the guitar department at Berklee where he has taught since 1989. He is also a senior lecturer in music at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., where he teaches guitar and jazz improvisation. The library and the BSCG host these performances in partnership with Coastal Heritage Bank.
Career Development Workshop -- Wednesday, June 12, 10 a.m. This morning workshop designed especially for job changers and anyone who plans to return to the workforce will be led by David Doyle, Career Coach at One Life at a Time. He will provide an update on career trends and current employment opportunities, so be sure to bring your resume if you have one. All are welcome. Late library hours for students -- Tuesday, June 11, through Thursday, June 13. Final exams season is here again! To provide local students with more time to study, the library will remain open until 10 p.m. on these evenings. Study space will be available for students as well as pizza, snacks, and supportive therapy dogs.
Learn about the new food labels -- Thursday, June 13, at 2 p.m. Changes are coming to the labels on food products at your local market. Kathy Jordan, Big Y's Consulting Dietitian, will present "Everything You Need to Know about the New Food Labels," including how to decipher the often-confusing information provided. She'll help participants understand nutrient lists and define terms such as reduced, organic, natural, GMO-free and clean. Jordan will also offer shopping tips, recommendations for healthy eating, and information to help shoppers make the most of their purchases at the market.
