A fatal crash on Rockland St. involving an electric bicycle and a pickup truck is currently under investigation.
On Monday, October 30, 2023 at 6:11am Officers responded to reports of a crash involving an electric bicycle and a truck on Rockland St. at Ringbolt Rd. Two people who had been riding on electric bicycle were found in the road with serious injuries. Both were transported to South Shore Hospital but one rider did not survive. The driver of the truck was not injured and remained at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates the electric bicycle and the truck were traveling in the same direction headed west on Rockland St. when the crash occurred. It was still dark and raining at the time.
Rockland St. remained closed at Hull St. and at Canterbury St. until 11:00am. The crash is being investigated by Hingham Police, State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and State Troopers from the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
