Respond Ventures, LLC is proposing to build a mixed-use development at 25 and 33 Central Street that will include eight two-bedroom condos on the second and third floor, commercial space on the ground floor, and a garage within the ground level of the building to provide parking for both uses. Krigsman Yoga has the option to continue to operate at this site.
The developer is expected to go before the Historic Districts Commission sometime in July to present his plan, filed under the name Respond Ventures, LLC.
"Even though it's not in a local historic district, in accordance with the new overlay district bylaw, an advisory [design] review by the HDC is required prior to Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals review to help maintain the flavor and character of the downtown area," said HDC Administrator Andrea Young.
In a brief written description of the work provided to the HDC, the developer anticipates that the residential condominium units "will be an attractive alternative to remaining in large single-family homes for empty-nester Hingham residents who wish to live in downtown Hingham in large, worry-free accommodations that are walkable to the shopping, civic, and other destinations that have been part of, and that they wish to continue to be part of, their community activities and involvement as Hingham residents." The development will incorporate "green" building features.
The plan also calls for year-round landscaping and park-like garden spaces incorporated in a glass-roofed, air-conditioned, two-story central atrium and on individual roof decks.
The 23-vehicle garage has been designed to provide all required parking "plus future parking flexibility and mitigation of the current congested on-street parking occurring at the property and its surroundings."
The Planning Board/ZBA hearing date(s) hasn't yet been set but will be posted on the town website, hingham-ma.gov.
The character of this town is disappearing!
They don’t care about that! It is all about increasing the tax base at any cost! Same is Cohasset and Hull
I like this proposed plan and would move back to my hometown if it were built
