We kick off the new year with an outstanding performance over break by this week’s Athlete of the Week presented by College Hype. Senior captain Nina Crean had one of her best game for the Harborwomen basketball team last week against cross-town rivals Notre Dame Academy. The Cougars are arguably one of the best shooting teams in the state. Nina’s shooting, hustle, and leadership on the court kept Hingham in the game, despite NDA making 12 three-pointers. Nina made four three-pointers herself and ended with 14 points.
“I asked Nina to step up and play a role that is different than what she is use to playing,” says head coach Roland Millien. “Instead of being a distributor I asked her to score and she stepped up in dramatic fashion and did just that. She led the team in scoring and opened up a plethora of things offensively for us because of her ability to space the floor with her shooting.”
Fellow senior captain Marissa Matthews agrees with coach Millien on Nina taking control of the game and setting the tone for the Harborwomen.
“Nina really stepped up during the game to knock down crucial threes and create offensive energy on the court to give us momentum to compete with a very good NDA team,” added Matthews. “I’m super proud of her performance in the game and she has been a driving force for our offense and will continue to be all season.”
Congrats Nina!
