Jack Hutchinson, a former thirty-year resident of Hingham, died after a short illness on November 26, 2023. Jack lived with his family in Hingham from 1964 – 1993 at which time he and his wife, Ann, relocated to St. Mary’s, GA until his death.
Jack was born and raised in St. Petersburg, FL. He attended the University of Florida, where he met and married his wife, Ann. He was a software engineer for fifty years, beginning his career with Armstrong World Industries, which led him to the Boston area in 1964.
Jack was an avid sailor and long-time member of the Higham Yacht Club where he spent many weekends racing in regattas around the Boston area with his friends. He donated much time, including time on the vestry, to St. John’s Episcopal Church. He was a talented painter and member of several local art clubs around Hingham. After his move to St. Mary’s, he was honored to be solicited as a county-wide featured artist and his art was displayed for a month in Camden County, GA. Jack was an accomplished skier and passed that passion down to his children and grandchildren. The last several years of his life he was an active member of Kiwanis in St. Mary’s, winning a state-wide award for his website design for the chapter.
Jack was predeceased by his wife, Ann, in 2018. He is survived by his son John and daughter Amy (Ed) Elmore, his grandchildren Scott, Anna, and Heidi. He is also survived by his brother Bill and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held for Jack at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hingham on June 22, 2024 at 1pm.
