The Hingham Municipal Lighting Plant (HMLP) is proud to announce that we have received a Platinum-level EVAL certification from the Electric Vehicle Adoption Leadership (EVAL) program. This certification, run by Forth and backed by the U.S. Department of Energy, recognizes our commitment to advancing carbon-free transportation opportunities for our employees and community.
The EVAL program, a nationally recognized initiative, is designed to support, certify, and celebrate employers and businesses that champion sustainable transportation. This program, which certifies organizations for a range of initiatives including EV charging, carpooling, biking, and public transportation, aligns with our commitment to sustainability and our efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
At HMLP, we are committed to sustainability and helping the Town of Hingham reach its goal to be Net Zero by 2040. Transportation generates the largest share of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States, and we recognize the crucial role organizations can play in addressing this challenge. By participating in the EVAL program, we aim to support our employees and community in choosing cleaner transportation solutions, contributing to a healthier environment and a more sustainable future.
Receiving the Platinum-level EVAL certification is a testament to our ongoing efforts to promote sustainability. HMLP focuses on providing reliable, affordable energy and being a strong community partner for our ratepayers. By installing EV chargers and encouraging sustainable commuting options, we are helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and foster a greener, more resilient Hingham.
In addition to HMLP’s new workplace charging stations, HMLP’s public-access charging network includes level-2 charging stations at Station St parking lot, Carlson Field, the South Shore Country Club, and Town Hall and level-3 charging stations at Station St. parking lot and Lynch Field.
