Showcasing the beauty of Hingham Harbor from the panoramic perch of Barnes Wharf, Hingham Maritime Center (HMC) is hosting the Making Waves Summer Beer Garden series for families to come enjoy the waterfront with beer and wine, popular local food trucks, and live music.
In partnership with Untold Brewing, Highroller Lobster Company, and Bone & Bread, HMC’s Making Waves has been a huge hit in the community at the first two events in May and June, with three left in the queue—on July 11, August 8, and September 12.
This Thursday’s Making Waves Beer Garden will run from 3-9 p.m. with Untold Brewing serving up beer, wine, cider, seltzer, and non-alcoholic drinks, lobster from the Highroller Lobster food truck, and music performed by The Rins in the evening. The last two events will feature food from Bone & Bread and music by Fil Pacino and John Debellis respectively.
“Making Waves has been an incredible display of community on Hingham’s waterfront. It was exactly what we hoped for when we first met with the team at Hingham Maritime Center and made plans for this series of special events,” said Mike Dyer, Hingham resident and co-owner of Untold Brewing.
HMC struck up partnerships with Untold Brewing and local food truck companies to fundraise for the nonprofit and offer an opportunity for the town to enjoy sunset along the water and among friends at HMC. Half the cost of each ticket is donated to Hingham Maritime Center.
“Seeing hundreds of neighbors, friends, and families enjoying a beautiful evening with incredible food, great music, and breathtaking views, right in the heart of Hingham is really amazing,” added Dyer. “We’re excited for the next three dates and furthering our efforts to raise awareness and funds for the Hingham Maritime Center and their valuable community programs.”
Tickets to Making Waves are $20 for attendees 21 and older (free under 21) and includes the first drink from Untold. Tickets may be purchased on site or ahead of time to be used at any of the events. Tickets are available here.
“The last beer garden was a blast! We look forward to the next evening in Hingham,” said Celia Ouelette, catering manager for Highroller Lobster Company. “What a beautiful place to gather with friends and family. The vibes were high! We are so grateful for Untold Brewing inviting us to participate in such a fun event.”
Summer days at HMC start at 6 a.m. with high school and adult rowers out in single, 4+, and 8+ rowing shells. Youth and adult rowing and sailing classes run throughout the day and into the evening at HMC, from introductory up to advanced classes. Younger children can learn all about the critters that live in Hingham Harbor in the Little Mariners class, and a new offering this summer at HMC are paddleboarding classes.
“Less than ten percent of Hingham’s waterfront is public—our mission is to provide community access to Hingham’s gorgeous harbor with affordable maritime programs for all,” said Liza MacKinnon, president of HMC. “We came up with the Making Waves series as a fun way to both fundraise for our programs and get the community together out on the harbor this summer.”
Parking for Making Waves is limited at HMC (30 Summer Street), so attendees are encouraged to park at Hingham Bathing Beach or the town lot at 62 Water Street. More information about Making Waves can be found here.
