The Hingham Yacht Club was founded in 1895. The first Hingham Yacht Club building was built in 1905, next to where the Iron Horse Memorial is today. When that became too small the group bought the two-masted schooner ‘Otronto’ as a floating annex next to the building. The Town took over the property for a harbor park in 1928 and the building was moved to the Bathing Beach section and used as a bath house. The building was later moved to North Street. The Hingham Yacht Club purchased the Nantasket Steamboat property at the end of Downer Ave and has been there ever since. The photo is from the Hingham Historical Society.
