August 9, 2024 By South Shore Conservatory

South Shore Conservatory registration is open for private lessons, group classes, and ensembles for the 2024/2025 school year, with a robust menu of arts offerings for all ages and abilities, including Creative Arts Therapies programs, at their campuses in Hingham and Duxbury.

Families looking to learn more about SSC programs are invited to attend Arts Open House @ SSC on its Hingham and Duxbury campuses, Saturday, September 7, from 12 noon to 2 pm. Families learn about SSC’s diverse arts-based programs, meet teaching artists, enjoy instrument demonstrations, and catch a live Open Mic on the stage of the Hingham campus Carr Amphitheater.  To register, please visit https://forms.gle/AZjak7pqKPpXtT1d9.

SSC’s private lessons connect students to one-to-one instruction with professional teaching artists who meet students of all ages where they are musically on a full range of instruments including piano, voice, guitar, strings, percussion, woodwinds, and brass.  Students may explore a variety of genres and styles, from classical and Celtic, to jazz, rock and pop. The first lesson on any instrument is always free.

For children six and under, SSC offers enrichment programs such as Music Together®, Music Sprouts, Creative Movement, Primary Ballet, Hip Hop, and introductory FUNdamentals classes in piano, guitar, ukulele and singing.

For students seven and over, SSC has group classes and ensembles such as Rock Band, SSC Youth Orchestra, Irish Traditional Fiddle, Hip Hop, Ballet up to Level 4, and Songwriting Workshop.

Adult students find inspiration with Adult Rock Band, Adult Intro to Piano, Adult Drum Circle, Adult Ballet, Adult Jazz Ensemble, Adult Rock Band, Chamber Music, 100 Songs Every Jazz Musician Should Know, Adult Singing FUNdamentals, and SSC Community Voices.

SSC’s Creative Arts Therapies (CAT) Department offers individualized music and dance therapy sessions, plus programs to maximize independence and wellness.  CAT programs offered this fall include SSC Community Voices, SSC Memory Café, and Percussion Commotion.

New this fall, SSC offers Foundations of Music Theory for beginners, and Building on Basics: Intermediate Music Theory.

South Shore Conservatory has campuses at One Conservatory Drive in Hingham and at The Ellison Center for the Arts, 64 St. George Street, Duxbury. SSC offers programs for all segments of the population to enjoy, regardless of age, ability, geography, and financial means.
