Historical Photo: The Treasure Shoppe

August 23, 2024 By Geri Duff

The Treasure Shoppe on Main Street. This building first saw life as Alonzo Cushing’s store at 741 Main Street. It was moved across the street to 738 Main. The best memories of it are when it was Marchetti’s Market where the neighborhood children would walk over for candy. In a 1954 ad, Marchetti’s offered meat, fresh fruit and vegetables and frozen food. In later years it was The Treasure Shoppe selling art and gifts. Today it is a private home. The photograph is from the Hingham Historical Society.
