It was a beautiful fall day for the 98th Hingham Historic House Tour. As the country looks to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, the 2024 House Tour featured six private homes built prior to 1775 that once belonged to Revolutionary War Patriots, as well as five iconic public buildings and museums; the Benjamin Lincoln House, the Old Ordinary, the Hingham Heritage Museum, the Old Ship Meeting House, and the Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Hall (GAR Hall).
600+ guests enjoyed the meticulously planned tour through historic Hingham, featuring unique and fascinating house histories at each property. Stunning floral arrangements were created by the Garden Club of Hingham to compliment the elegant decor of each location. Refreshments and treats were offered throughout the day to guests in the sun- filled ballroom of the Society’s headquarters at the Hingham Heritage Museum, 34 Main Street.
The Hingham Historical Society thanks the generous homeowners who steward their historic homes and opened them in support of the Society, the many volunteer docents and members who gave of their time, the Friends of Old Ship Meetinghouse, the Trustees of the GAR Memorial Hall, the Garden Club of Hingham for the spectacular arrangements seen throughout the tour, the Hingham Militia for bringing history to life along Hingham’s Patriot Trail, our partners REV250 Boston and MA250 and the 98th Historic House Tour Committee: Lara Thompson (Chair), Caroline Counselman, Gail Litchfiled, Lauren Mahoney, Sue Merrill, Ellen Miller, Mary Morrison, Jane Shute, Molly Tully, Erin Whitmore, and Amy Wilson. In addition, the generous sponsors and local businesses who continue to support the fall programming of The Hingham Historical Society.
