Hingham students and adults with disabilities are often referred to the services provided by Cardinal Cushing Centers. In Hanover, Ma – this large, “campus-like” neighborhood includes a large school building, several vocational training sites, a Culinary center, Rec center with playing fields, playgrounds and pool, and a series of public-facing MarketPlace shops. In addition, they have 16 residential homes spread out across the South Shore, and since 1947, the organization has served thousands of students and adults with a focus on working with All Ages, All Abilities, All Together.
New this year, Hingham resident and Cardinal Cushing Center employee Amanda Cease has started a Hingham-specific fundraising team for Cushing’s annual “Cushing Fun Run” fundraiser, called Hingham Heroes. “I’ve found that Hingham residents are very interested in supporting inclusion. I have personal relationships with several Hingham families who are involved with Cushing, and who feel that Cushing has had a dramatically positive effect on their child or adult with disabilities,” adds Cease.
The “Cushing Fun Run” FUNdraising event is a FREE 1-mile, inclusive run/walk (the course is flat, and can accommodate strollers, dogs, kids, wheelchairs, etc.), followed by a free Harvest Festival including music, bouncy houses, face painting, Clydesdale wagon rides and more. Come join us!
