Marcia E. McClanahan, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away from this life on October 5, 2024, at the age of 89 at her beloved home in Hingham, Massachusetts, where she had lived for 60 years.
Marcia is survived by her devoted, loving husband of 71 years, Warren L. McClanahan. She will be deeply missed by Warren, as well as by her children, Linda Frederickson and David McClanahan, and their spouses, John and Karen. Marcia’s grandchildren, Emily McClanahan, Michael Frederickson (and wife Rachael), Sarah (Frederickson) Hickey (and husband David), and great-granddaughter, Elle Hickey, will also cherish her memory. Additionally, Marcia’s sister, Susan Kivlan, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends will mourn her passing.
Marcia always put her family first. She loved celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and especially Christmas. She would take the lead role of getting the whole family together for occasions throughout the year. Marcia enjoyed thirty years of retirement, including her annual winter stay in Palm Harbor, FL with her husband, where they both golfed, spent time at the beach, and dined with their Highland
Lakes friends. Before that, she had a career at the Brockton and Hingham Courthouses, where she served as a loyal court officer for many years.
Marcia was smart, energetic and outgoing, and was able to brighten the days of friends and neighbors, who will miss seeing her out and about on the South Shore.
She asked to have a private family service, and a celebration of a life well lived.
