New North Church Christmas Candlelight Service

December 12, 2024 Submitted by Steven Aucella

One of Hingham’s longest-running and best loved holiday events returns on Sunday, December 22, at 4:00 p.m. The entire community is invited to the historic 1806 meeting house at 1 Lincoln Street in Hingham Square for New North Church’s annual service of Christmas music and readings.

This year’s edition once again features a distinguished and varied array of talented singers and musicians:
• Jennifer Pearl and Paige Taylor return to lead student soloists from the South Shore Conservatory.
• Bill Richter, Music Director at First Trinitarian Church in Scituate and a music teacher at Scituate High School, will play both organ and piano to accompany the singers.
• Chris Robins, who provides music on a regular basis for our Sunday services, and Patti Yee will also perform.

New North’s pastor, the Rev. Steven M. Aucella, will lead the hour-long service. Those attending are asked to bring donations of non-perishable food items for the Hingham Interfaith Food Pantry.

The annual Wassail bowl reception follows the service in the Ruth Curry Parlor at the back of the church. All are welcome at this community-wide holiday event.
