Obituary: Susan B. Griffin

Susan B. Griffin, 77, of Hingham, Massachusetts passed away on Sunday February 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham after valiantly fighting cancer for eight years.

Sue was born in Ipswich, Massachusetts in 1947 to parents Robert L Hughes and Selma L (Call) Hughes. She grew up in Newton and Natick, MA and graduated from Laselle Nursing School. Sue worked as a registered nurse at many local hospitals, then becoming a school nurse in the Scituate Public School System.

In her free time, she loved being outside at the beach on Cape Cod collecting shells to make Christmas wreaths for family and friends, going for long walks while always having treats for any dog in her pocket, and was an avid gardener tending to her gardens in Hingham and Centerville. She took extreme pride in her flowers and vegetables.

Sue was the devoted wife to Joseph F. Griffin for 53 years of bliss, 51 years of those at their home in Hingham. She leaves behind three children, Timothy Griffin and his wife Amy Scofield of Norwell, MA, Emily Griffin of Weymouth, MA, and Thomas Griffin and his wife Kathryn of Cohasset, MA. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, who were the loves of her life: Teddy 12, Charlie 10, Gracie 8, Thomas 7, Luke 6, and Samuel 2.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday March 9, 2025, from 3-6pm at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel 21 Pond St Hingham, MA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Pat Roche Hospice Home. For more information and online guestbook go to www.downingchapel.com
