Two local High School seniors have developed a small business which has grown out of a love of being on the water. Patrick O’Neill (Milton Academy) and Patrick Rizzo (Hingham High) are the proprietors of the Ice Cream Boat; which can be seen along the coastal waterways of Hingham, providing ice cold confectionaries to other sailors of the south shore.
Annually, during the Fourth of July timeframe, all income they receive is earmarked for Hingham Veterans. Their tally this year was in excess of $1,000 - topping last year’s mark of $822.
They presented Veterans Director, Keith Jermyn with these funds so he may assist the nearly two dozen Veterans and surviving spouses in the community who live well below the federal poverty limit. The funds are converted to fuel and food vouchers, as well as other household needs arise that are not necessarily fully covered under the current state veteran benefit laws.
These young man should be congratulated not only for their successful business partnership, but for their commitment and generosity to those who were willing to sacrifice their own lives, so that others may live in freedom.
