The beginning of the school year can often be overwhelming and intimidating. This uniquely special event will help to spread kindness and inclusion throughout the community while also supporting a worthy cause.
Kids are invited to decorate an oversized crayon, making a pledge to include everyone this school year. These personalized crayons will all assemble together to form a beautiful and special mix of crayons in a large crayon box.
Guests will also be encouraged to post a photo using #YouCanSitWithUs and #PlacesPeopleLove and for every share, Derby Street Shops will donate $1 to Youth Health Connection, a community benefits program of South Shore Health that is dedicated to developing the positive mental health and physical well-being of young people across our region.
In addition, Derby Street Shops will offer a variety of family-friendly activities and entertainment for all, including balloon animals, a live DJ, complimentary cotton candy and caricature artists, as well as activities with various shops like Beau & Ro, Ivivva, Miniluxe and lululemon.
The event is free and open to the public, although donations are encouraged via Eventbrite or onsite. All donations will benefit Youth Health Connection.
Derby Street Shops’ You Can Sit With Us Back-to-School Celebration is part of WS Development’s property wide 'You Can Sit With Us' initiative. Throughout the month of September, WS Development properties, including Seaport, The Street, Legacy Place, and MarketStreet Lynnfield, will be promoting inclusion for everyone, no matter what age, with various surprise and delight moments at the properties and through meaningful social media activations.
