On Sunday, September 15 from 4 - 6 pm, the Hingham chapter of the League of Women Voters will launch its 2019/20 program year, with a fun and informative gathering at the Hingham Community Center, 70 South Street. This is a great opportunity to meet League members, learn more about what this influential, nonpartisan organization does, and perhaps decide to join it yourself!

As the national League begins to celebrate its 100th Anniversary this year, local and state chapters are energetically working with our state Legislators to advocate for positions that have been adopted by the League, as well as doing the core work of registering voters, helping people learn how to run for office, and holding Town Meeting warrant reviews and local candidates forums. LWV does not support candidates or political parties as an organization - we focus on issues that affect us all. The Hingham chapter includes over 60 members (of all genders) from Hingham, Cohasset and Hull. As we often say: “Democracy is not a spectator sport!” Consider joining us this year, when being an informed citizen is as important as ever.

For lots of great information, go to the Hingham League website at www.lwvhingham.org and let us know you are coming to the Launch Party at lwvhinghammembership@gmail.com.

  1. An important year ahead with the centennial of women’s suffrage—and the ongoing important work of the soon-to-be 100-years-young League of Women Voters.
