Guests enjoyed a gorgeous evening at Weir River Farm when they gathered for the annual Farm Formal on Friday, September 29th. Attendees enjoyed the sunset over cocktails from the top of Turkey Hill and a stunning farm-to-table dinner presented by Kate’s Table.
The evening raised important funds to support The Trustees’ educational programs on the South Shore. Children who attended Weir River Farm’s summer camp were on hand to introduce guests to sheep, goats and chickens and to display the confidence they built and skills they picked up through activities on the farm.
Also, a celebration of the ethical, responsible farming that produces local meat, raised and sold in Hingham, the farm’s Livestock Manager, Nate Wallace, a Hingham High School alumnus, shared: “We are now in our 20th year of operation at this farm. We have more animals than ever, which in turn allows us to serve and educate more people every year, and we’ve managed to do all this while respecting local pollinator species, allowing nesting birds enough time to nurture their chicks, and investing in many types of grassland habitat that becomes rarer and rarer each year.”
Guests were welcomed by Alicia Leuba, Vice President at the Trustees, were introduced to Andy Gallagher, the Trustees new Director on the South Shore and were invited to support the Trustees work and participate in conservation efforts by Chris Oddleifson, CEO of Rockland Trust and Trustees Advisory Board member.
Following dinner, the dance floor was filled as guests danced the rest of the night away to the music of Take Out.
The evening was hosted by Kristen Deane Campbell, Tammy Devine, Jamee Downes, Trevor and Liz Graham, Michele Heffernan, Martha Gangemi, Kelley Truchan, Denise Tucker, and Jenny Weymouth.
