The Suburbs are Back in Fashion

Not that the women in the 02043 aren’t already stylish, but if this weird winter has earned us anything, it’s the right to splurge on warm-weather looks. Here’s why all fashion-savvy Hinghamites will be at the Sip & See Soiree on January 22nd at The Guesthouse for a taste of spring with Lela Rose’s new bridge line, Pearl — and why you should be, too.

Yes, Lela Rose is her real name. Although she may not be a household name around here yet, you’ve undoubtedly seen the beautiful looks Lela’s created for her celebrity clientele like the Duchess of Cambridge, Mandy Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tina Fey, Jessica Chastain, Mindy Kaling, Chrissy Teigen, Michelle Obama and more.

Lela and I are both native Texans. I’ve known who she is as a designer since before she dressed the Bush Twins for their father’s first presidential inauguration. (By the way, she continues to dress Jenna Bush Hager all these years later. If you caught Jenna’s return to The Today Show after maternity leave, you saw her head-to-toe in peppy polka dots which are part of the Pearl collection.) A single piece from Lela’s ready-to-wear collection, which is sold at Bergdorf’s, Neiman’s and the like, can start in the low $700’s and go up from there. While gorgeous, I give thanks for some good ‘ol Southern sensibility, which is at the heart of Pearl. This collection provides her signature “Lela look” and exquisite quality of clothing, but it’s less formal so it can be worn every day and at a more affordable price.

The Sip & See Soiree in Hingham is inspired by Lela’s preference to throw a party in lieu of a stuffy presentation to show off her latest creations. There’s a reason she’s known for having the most fun and creative fashion shows during New York Fashion Week. Lela says pieces in the Pearl collection are ‘for women going places, having fun and living life to the fullest.’ I totally identify with this. I love to entertain. I love clothes. I also love a polished look while still feeling comfortable and functional but without breaking the bank. Best of all, Pearl brings racks of these exclusive luxuries and a special shopping experience to you, so you can see the entire collection in person and piece together your favorites.

To add to the staycation/vacation vibe, contemporary land and seascape artist, Jess Hurley Scott, will have works on view while Pearl is at the Guesthouse. Meryl Pinette of Merrily Blooms will be creating a live floral installation during the Soiree. Both women are local to the South Shore and talents you should know, if you don’t already.
