Our Special Town Meeting will take place this coming Saturday, November 21 at the Hingham High School Multi-Purpose Athletic Field starting at 12 noon.  Fortunately, the forecast is for a partly sunny fall afternoon with the temperature in the mid-to-upper 50’s.  Please make every effort to take part in the meeting and be sure to check in well before noon, so that we can start on time.

The general format will be the same as last June’s annual meeting, outdoors, “touchless” check-in, seats set safely apart, mandatory masks, microphones sanitized frequently, and such.  There is only one article on the warrant and it relates exclusively to the recommended purchase of the property at 335 Lincoln Street, all as is more particularly set forth in the warrant at pages 5-7. The article and the recommended motion at page 7 are concerned solely with the purchase of the property in question.  As the Advisory Committee notes in its comment at page 5, any decision regarding whether or not to move ahead with a new public safety facility will be made at a future Town Meeting; no such decision will be on the table for Saturday.

Self-governance through open town meeting is a tradition rightly cherished in Hingham. Saturday will give us another opportunity to continue that tradition.

Michael Puzo, Town Moderator
