Timing: There will be no issues during the day on Monday. Sunshine will gradually give way to increasing clouds, ahead of the storm, but the weather will remain pleasant and cool for the Marathon and any other outdoor activities.
The storm will spread rain across the South Shore overnight, mainly in about a 6 hour window from roughly midnight to 6 AM.
Then, after sun up on Tuesday, the storm will pull away leaving us with gradually clearing skies.
Rainfall: In that short period of time the rain will come down at a good clip. Expect 0.75-1" of rain from the storm.
Wind: Since this is a coastal storm winds will be strong and gusty out of the east and northeast.
During the height of the storm, overnight Monday into Tuesday, we can expect wind gusts 40-50 MPH in town.
Then, behind the storm on Tuesday, it will remain windy. We'll likely still find gusts close to 40 MPH, but the direction will shift out of the west.
Coastal Flooding: The high tide overnight Monday into Tuesday is just over 11 feet, and occurs around 2 AM. That, combined with the strong onshore wind, will likely create some pockets of minor splash-over.
Pollen: if you suffer from allergies, this storm actually will help you.
In the past days tree pollen has been high, particularly willow, poplar, juniper, birch, oak, and pine.
The rain will help to briefly lower the pollen count.
