Anne Johnson Kimball of Hingham passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 23rd, 2024. Anne was born in Binghamton, NY on April 10th, 1935. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Baxter Burley, husbands Harry L. Johnson III, and Peter R. Kimball, and her granddaughter, Hannah Collins McCarthy.
From an early age, Anne displayed a fierce determination and independence that would define her life. She developed a passion for history and education, returning to college and graduating from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Extension Studies in 1991. Following graduation, she joined her husband, Peter Kimball, at Worzalla Printing and Publishing, where she flourished at building their business with several major publishing houses in New York and New England. In later life, Anne served on several town committees in Hingham, and on the Board of the historic Hingham Cemetery. The restoration of the Ames Chapel in 2015 was a major accomplishment for her and the board.
Anne loved her family and her home of 53 years in Hingham. Her classic antique cape close to Hingham Square was a popular gathering place for friends and neighbors, especially the 4th of July breakfast she served after the road race and before the parade. Her annual Christmas party was also a highlight bringing together current and former neighbors, family, and always the children.
Above all, Anne was most thankful and proud of her family. She organized annual trips to North Conway, NH for ski weekends, and summer vacations at Spruce Point Inn in Boothbay Harbor, ME. Her eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren called her Mimi, as did most of Hingham. Anne will be remembered for her beautiful smile, enthusiasm, and never missing a sporting event, school play, or first communion. She was kind-hearted, had a generous soul, and was always available to help someone in need.
Anne is survived by her four children; Connie (Johnson) Jaquith and husband Mark Jaquith of Warwick, RI; Jeff Johnson and wife Pam, Lori (Johnson) McCarthy and husband David, and Sarah (Johnson) Beal and George Beal, all of Hingham; 11 grandchildren: Andrew Johnson (Dewey), Kelsey Johnson Abrahams (Mike), Colby Johnson; Will, Perry, Cotter, and Jack McCarthy; Lt. Jeffrey Jaquith and Christopher Jaquith; Jennifer Beal Wilcox (Chris) and Monica Beal Raasch (Dave); her three great grandchildren: Christopher and Olivia Wilcox, and Casey Abrahams: her beloved sister-in-law, Sally Cloughly, and many nieces and nephews.
