This week’s Athlete of the Week presented by College Hype was more difficult than usual to pick.  We are in full swing of the winter sports season and there are outstanding performances on almost every team.  However, with four games this week, sophomore Eileen Lowther stood out above the rest for the Harborwomen on the court.  Helping her team get three wins last week, after starting the season 0-3, she averaged 8 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks per game.

Head coach Roland Millien explains how Eileen changes the game when she is in there.

“Eileen’s impact is more than even the stats show when she is anchoring the defense,” says Millien. “People second guess coming into the paint knowing she is there. She makes up for mistakes that we make defensively. She is the eraser! She is also starting to find her groove offensively.”

If we had one, she would also win the award comeback player of the year after missing almost the whole season last year with an injury.  Senior captain Caroline Connolly is glad to have her back on the court.

“Eileen has made a huge impact on our team, consistently leading the varsity team in rebounds and blocks'”  describes Connolly. “Eileen was injured last season and the team looked forward to see the impact she would make this year. She is a crucial part of our offense and defense and is able to finish strong and make big plays in critical moments. Her ability to block shots and get rebounds while also dominating offensively in the post and knocking down outside shots has been impactful in every game. Only in her sophomore year, Eileen has more than exceeded expectations and I can’t wait to see the further impacts she’ll have for the Hingham Girls Basketball program.”

Congrats Eileen on a busy and successful week!
