Hingham field hockey has put together quite a season so far. 9-1 in their last 10 games allowing zero goals in those wins. They are 12-2-1 on the season, only losing to Sandwich twice in two of the most competative games the program has seen in years. So on a very successful team that scores a lot of goals and plays outstanding defense, it’s hard to pick one player on this talented team to recongnize any given week. Sophomore Ryan Hallisey had an outstanding week earning the Athlete of the Week presented by College Hype.
Ryan, a midfielder, racked up 3 goals and 5 assists last week, all on corner shots. She is currently second on the team in scoring with 10 goals and 15 assists.
“Ryan never gets tired,” says head coach Sue Petrie. “As a midfielder, she is running the entire field, and yet she never comes off the field. Her endurance is unmatched by anyone on the team. Although defensively she is very strong, her best asset is her rocket of a shot. Ryan is also an amazing team player – always working hard, always has a smile on her face.”
Junior captain Sienna Brackett concurs that her actions off the field are just as important as her performance on it.
“Ryan is a consistent player every game and is very versatile on the field,” Brackett explains. “She is very quick and has a powerful drive that results in many goals. She is a great teammate and always has positive energy.”
The girls wrap up the regular season this week with three games before playoffs kick-off next week.
Congrats Ryan!
