Sandwiched between two Ed Burns Coffee Pot Tournament games, the Harbormen squeezed in a quick trip to Springfield to take on third ranked Pope Francis. Hingham walked away with three wins, the last one yesterday on the game winning goal from this week’s Athlete of the Week presented by College Hype, junior Jack Rakauskas. Jack had at least one assist in every game including two in the game vs Canton to open the Coffee Pot tourney. With a total of four assists and the biggest goal of his career, the young defenseman is holding his own in his first year on varsity.
Senior captain and defensive line mate Chase McKenna is impressed on how he has jumped right in as an important part of the team’s top defensive pairing.
“Jack has been an awesome addition to the team this year,” McKenna tells the Anchor. “He filled the role of starting defenseman and didn’t skip a beat. He’s a very smart player with a great IQ and good patience. These past few games especially he has been huge, playing well and obviously today winning the game for us. Overall, super glad he is on the team, and pumped he is winning Athlete of the Week.”
The Harbormen will need Jack to continue making an impact as they have another big week as they take on Catholic Memorial, Saint John’s HS, and Arlington on Sunday in the finals of the Ed Burns Tournament.
Congrats Jack!
