It’s unusual for the track & field team to have two meets in a week, let alone two in three days. This makes it even more impressive for this week’s Athlete of the Week presented by College Hype junior Catherine Salem, who finished first in both meets vs Marshfield and Plymouth North in the 100 meter hurdles as well as setting a PR in the 100 meter dash. Catherine is unfeated in the 100 meter hurdles this season. She also competes in the long jump, where she PR’d a few weeks back.
“Catherine is someone who has shown leadership qualities throughout both the indoor and outdoor season,” says head coach Bob Ritz. “She is someone who the coaches can count on to lead practice and with it be either the hurdles group or part of a relay team. Catherine is someone who the coaches and athletes can count on meet days as a leader who her teammates look up to.”
“Catherine is a very dedicated member of both the hurdles and sprints groups at track,” senior captain Sarah Burke explains. “Catherine always has a very positive attitude and is great at stepping up when needed. She is an extremely hard worker and a very valued member of the team!”
Congrats Catherine!
